Run wild at Elachee during Trillium Trek

Lace up your running shoes and head to the great outdoors for the annual Trillium Trek Trail Run at Elachee Nature Science Center in Gainesville.

The competitive race features three courses for a half-marathon, and a 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer run/walk along Elachee’s hiking trails in the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve.

It is an adventurous single- and double-track off-road running experience through the forest, across creeks and up/down steep to moderate hills.

Runners will start at Elachee’s visitor center parking lot along Elachee Drive and plunge into the Chicopee Woods.

Medals will be awarded to overall winners and three deep within each male/female age categories.

The Kids Fun Run begins at 1:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. start for the other competitive races Saturday, March 19, at 2125 Elachee Drive in Gainesville. Walkers are welcome to participate in the 10K and 5K, but must finish the course in four hours to receive an official time.

This event will take place rain or shine, unless in the case of lightening or high winds that may put runners at risk.

Trillium Trek fees are $55 for the half-marathon, $40 for the 10K race, $25 for the 5K race, and $5 for the Kids Fun Run. Registration includes a tech T-shirt, post-race recovery beverages and snacks. Online registration at www.elachee.org/trilliumtrek will stay open until 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 18. Check in and event-day registration opens at 12:30 p.m., March 19.
