Renowned organist to perform at Grace Episcopal

Organist Joan Lippincott will perform Sept. 25 at Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville.

Worldwide renowned organist Joan Lippincott will perform beginning at 5 p.m. Sept. 25 at Grace Episcopal Church, 431 Washington St., Gainesville.

Lippincott has played hundreds of concerts in all corners of the globe. For 35 years, she was head of the organ department at Westminster Choir College, the largest and one of the most renowned trainers of organists in the world.

She has recorded the entire organ works of J. S. Bach as well as several discs of the organ music of Vierne and Widor.

Lippincott, who turned 75 in December, has trained hundreds of professional-level church musicians, including David Burton-Brown, organist and music director at Grace Church.

Her Sunday program will include works of Bach, Copland, Mathias, Messiaen, Mozart and Widor. A reception will follow.

The concert is free and open to the public.
