As the winter chill settles in the South, many may look forward to spring days and sailing away on rivers, lakes and even oceans.

Luckily, the 2016 Progressive Insurance Atlanta Boat Show can turn that daydream into a reality. The 54th annual event will show off a plethora of seaworthy vessels from Jan. 14-17 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

The Southeast’s premier boating event will feature hundreds of the latest models for sale, from watercrafts such as Jet Skis and pontoons to luxury yachts and bass boats. Accompanying the boats will be an array of gear and accessories.

But the boat show is not just about selling boats. The entire family can enjoy several attractions such as the Let’s Go Fishing Center, where professional anglers lead hourly seminars, and an expanded series of boater safety and sailing seminars. The show will also feature a boating simulator, bass tub and trout pond.

“We’re so excited to share many new boats and educational features this year, as well as our new boating skills virtual trainer and sailing simulator,” show manager Kevin Murphy said.

Little boaters will reel in the fun at the catch & release pond. Plus, the new Kid Zone will feature boat building, face painting, a bounce house, temporary tattoos and balloon art.

The Atlanta Boat Show will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 14-15, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 16 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 17. All events will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center, Hall C 280 Northside Drive NW, in Atlanta.

Tickets are $14 for adults 16 and older and free for youth 15 and younger when accompanied by a paying adult. Save $2 when purchasing tickets online before Jan. 14. All active and retired military, as well as law enforcement personnel and firefighters may enter for free with valid ID.
