Local artist Chad Shore will have works on display featuring pieces by area teens who participated in the "Portfolio Series" at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center.

The intensive workshop featured courses exclusively designed for high school art students to develop their portfolios for competitive review in college applications.

Participants explored a variety of media including hunting for unlikely treasure and creating sculpture from found and discarded objects.

Chad Shore, a Gainesville native, instructed the workshop with hands-on techniques. Shore was recently featured in his own solo exhibition, "Beyond Lost and Found," at the Quinlan this spring.

A full-time professional artist, he has his own successful line of apparel, Sixtus Clothing, and has been featured in a national ad campaign and numerous solo exhibitions across the Southeast.

Friday's special viewing of works is the culmination of the weeklong workshop.
