North Georgia women interested in checking out area vendors, hearing speakers and participating in activities geared specifically for them should mark their calendars. The 2016 North Georgia Women’s Expo is nine days away.

The Women’s Expo will be held in two sessions, 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Brenau Downtown Center, 301 Main St. SW, Gainesville.

Sponsored by Brenau University and organized by a partnership between The Times and the nonprofit WomenSource, this second annual event supports personal and professional success for all women in Northeast Georgia.

“WomenSource stands ready to help make sure area women have the skills, information and support to succeed in life, whether that’s personally or professionally,” Times Publisher Charlotte Atkins said. “It’s an amazing network of women and we’re thrilled to have them as a partner.”

The expo will connect the most powerful consumer group — women — with area businesses, services and agencies.

“Women are linked to 85 percent of all consumer purchases, from health care and autos to goods and services,” Atkins said. “This event is an engaging showcase that features exhibitors with an array of services, products and opportunities for women.”

The event will include vendor booths from jewelers, artisans, health care providers and more, offering products and services for women.

The Times and WomenSource will offer presentations on stage throughout the expo to provide insight and education on women’s topics.

Prizes will be available for attendees, including a shopping spree at Belk, which will also present the finale fashion show. The spring edition of The Times’ Moxie magazine, which celebrates the women of North Georgia, also will be released at the Women’s Expo.

Event sponsors include: Brenau University, Belk, Farmer’s Insurance, Milton Martin Honda, The Longstreet Clinic, Northeast Georgia Health System, and Pinnacle Custom Signs.

Expo tickets are $5 and are for sale at The Times, 345 Green St., and through WomenSource, 1547 Riverside Drive. Proceeds from the first 1,000 tickets sold will benefit WomenSource.
