Piedmont professor's recital features piano, organ

Piedmont assistant professor of music Joy Hayner will perform a recital of piano, organ and harpsichord Jan. 21.

Piedmont College professor of music Joy Hayner will perform a piano, organ and harpsichord recital at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21 in the chapel at the campus in Demorest.

Hayner will perform pieces by Domenico Scarlatti, including "Sonata in D Major." She will also perform "Fantasy in C Minor" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, "Symphony No. 5" by Charles Marie Widor, and more.

A native of Orlando, Fla., Hayner serves as assistant professor of music at Piedmont. She holds degrees from Bob Jones University in piano performance and the University of Georgia in organ performance.

Hayner has played in several state and regional competitions, faculty recitals and community performances. She performs as soloist on organ and piano and in ensemble with various groups in the region. She has served as a church organist, pianist and choir director for more than 30 years.
