As Ryan Conarro completes his residency at the Gainesville Theatre Alliance, he will end his time here with a one-man show.

Conarro will perform “Saints of Failure” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13-15 at the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville’s Ed Cabell Theater at 3820 Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood. Seating is first come, first serve, with doors opening at 7:10 p.m.

The 90-minute show is a solo performance that explores deep questions about LGBT identity and the American Christian experience. It also delves into the strangeness, discomfort and hilarity that ensues when those two identities collide. Because of the subject matter of the play, GTA rates the piece PG-13.

The heart of the piece is a series of personal stories shared by Conarro from his own coming-of-age experience as a gay Catholic man.

“A key moment of the piece is a coming-out story, about how particularly tough that can be for someone who’s both gay and Christian,” Conarro said.

The Brooklyn, N.Y., man is in a two-month residency this fall at Gainesville Theatre Alliance. As a North Hall High School graduate, Conarro  performed and trained with GTA before transferring to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He earned a master’s degree in interdisciplinary arts at Goddard College.
