North Georgia Zoo to start winter behind-the-scenes tours
The North Georgia Zoo and Petting Farm is scheduled to start its Winter Wonderland Tours this weekend. It involves a way for visitors to spend some time behind the scenes with zoo staff.

With winter officially here, the North Georgia Zoo and Petting Farm is beginning its Winter Wonderland Tours this weekend.

Tours are scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 2912 Paradise Valley Road in Cleveland.

Then from 7-8:30 p.m. Jan. 17, the zoo will host a special “Get to know your Zoo.”

Always the third weekend in January, staff and volunteers will meet and greet the public. Snacks and refreshments will be available. Visitors may also meet a couple of zoo animals.

The following day, the zoo will have a behind the scenes tour at 2 p.m.

The tours are for those who want to spend more time learning, petting and interacting with a variety of animals. Visitors will have more time to take pictures and interact with the animals, including a  visit with the nursery animals.
