Runners in the Attack the Castle race Saturday must scale obstacles and avoid the castle’s defenses, including water balloons thrown by a trebuchet.

The 5K/10K adventure race begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Military Academy, led by celebrity starter DeAngelo Hall, a Washington Redskins defensive cornerback who previously played for the Atlanta Falcons.

The route leads participants along roads, through breezeways and across trails on the private school’s campus at 2001 Riverside Drive in Gainesville.

Interested runners can register online. The entry fee for the 5K is $30 and the 10K is $35. Registration on race day begins at 7 a.m. on Maginnis Field. Proceeds benefit the school’s scholarship fund.

Awards will be given to the top three male and female racers plus a senior division. Each race participant receives a dri-fit T-shirt and a Nalgene bottle in addition to a goodie bag.

Race sponsor GNC will hand out samples, and sponsor Chick-fil-A will supply chicken biscuits for participants. Mellow Mushroom also donated gift certificates for the first-place winner of each category.
