Santa is making his rounds to the square in downtown Gainesville, so gather the children for a fun and family-filled day as the jolly old elf takes over Main Street Market.

The annual Mingle with Kringle will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5, 12 and 19, at 118 Main St. SW in downtown Gainesville.

For more than five years, Santa has made this visit.

“It’s just something that’s a great way to bring people downtown. We love it when he comes to the square,” Main Street Manager Regina Mansfield said.

Children may drop off their Christmas lists in the special North Pole Express Delivery Mailbox and even have a photo op with Santa Claus.

“It’s not like going to the mall because Santa has more time on the square to spend with the kids,” Mansfield said. “Santa really takes the time and talks with the kids, and it’s just a more one-on-one experience.”

While the visit with Santa especially appeals to children, downtown Gainesville has something for people of all ages.

“I know everybody always says there’s something for everybody, but really there is something for everyone down on the square,” Mansfield said. “We have a shop that sells toys, and we’ve got a shop that appeals to anywhere from your preteen to your college-age student. There is such a diverse collection of stores on our square. You can find something for everybody.”
