Set in New York City from the 1920s to the mid-1940s, the story focuses on Mame Dennis, whose eccentric, bohemian lifestyle is interrupted when her late brother’s young son Patrick is entrusted to her care. A merry set of circumstances ensue as Mame instructs the boy on how to “live, live, live!” But rather than adapt to societal standards about child rearing, money-making and romance, Mame does everything in her own dramatic flair.
Well-known tunes from the smash musical include the title song, “Mame,” “We Need a Little Christmas,” the comic “Bosom Buddies,” “My Best Girl,” and the hit “If He Walked into My Life.”
The cast includes veteran performers and many new faces to the Holly stage. The title role is played by Dyann Beaty. Broadway star Vera Charles will be played by Erin Peck. Holly favorite Rich Grimshaw sweeps Mame off her feet and leads the show’s chorus in the rousing title song.
Ten-year-old Luke Michaelis, makes his Holly debut as Patrick Dennis, Mame’s nephew. In Act II, University of North Georgia student Alex Davis takes over the role of Patrick as he attends college, meets and eventually marries Pageen Ryan, played by fellow UNG student, Chelsea Dubin. In total, Mame has a cast of 21 actors.
