The Lanier Chamber Singers, a 36-voice mixed ensemble, will present "A Night at the Opera" this weekend.

Now in its 20th season of choral singing, the chamber group comprises members of the community dedicated to the arts and cultural enrichments. The choir draws its members from throughout Northeast Georgia.

Members of The Lanier Chamber Singers have backgrounds in music, but their day jobs include everything from general contractors and students to lawyers and college professors.

Under the direction of Wallace Hinson, the choir specializes in a cappella literature from the Renaissance and 20th century periods.

This weekend's performance will highlight some of the most-loved operatic works.

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. March 23 and 4:30 p.m. March 25 at First Baptist Church Chapel, 751 Green St. NW, Gainesville.
