Kids stay active this winter during holiday mini camps

As children find themselves on Christmas break, the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department has a solution for the bored tikes.

Three holiday mini camps will entertain kids during their time off from school. The programs serve children, ages 6-12, and take place when the Clarke County School District schools are not in session.

“Running with Rudolph” will keep participants active with arts and crafts and field trips from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 21-23 and 28-31. The fee is $40 per child per week for ACC residents and $60 per child per week for nonresidents.

The holiday camp takes place at Rocksprings Park, 291 Henderson Ext.

“Winter Blast Holiday” will keep participants busy with arts and crafts, cooking activities and games. The program is set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 28-30 at Lay Park, at 297 Hoyt St.

The fee is $25 for ACC residents and $38 for nonresidents.

“Winter Creations” will celebrate the season with winter-themed projects. The three-day program takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 21-23 at East Athens Community Center, 400 McKinley Drive.
