Kickball game aids Alzheimer research
Placeholder Image

Kickball is a game linked to childhood with memories of schoolyard games. However for those suffering from Alzheimer’s, the disease destroys those memories and many others.

Therefore, the Go Purple for Alzheimer’s Kickball event will raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Kickball games will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 20, at Candler Fields across from City Park and the Martha Hope Cabin in Gainesville. Registration will be at 9 a.m. at the field at 525 Prior St. NE, in Gainesville.

Teams and individuals may preregister at the Gainesville Civic Center or Frances Meadows Aquatic Center.

Donations are $6 for adults and $3 for 12 and younger. If participants arrive with their father or grandfather in tow, they will receive a $1 off discount.

Funds also benefits the Gainesville Parks and Recreation Children At Play Fund.
