Tunes such as “Margaritaville,” and “Cheesburger in Paradise” will be heard throughout the Holly Theater in downtown Dahlonega as the official and original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show performs.
A1A will sing the songs penned and played by Jimmy Buffett at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at 69 W. Main St. in Dahlonega. Tickets are $27 and available at www.hollytheater.com.
In 1992, A1A won a Margaritaville Records-sponsored Jimmy Buffett Sound Alike Contest. Then, A1A became the only tribute band to be personally sanctioned by Buffett himself.
Making up that sound are band members Jeff Pike on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Chris Blackwell on lead guitar; Eric Baumgartner on piano, keyboards and background vocals; Rick Meeder on bass guitar and background vocals; Scotty Sells on pan steel drums and percussion; Vance Kelly on saxophone and production; and Wayne Viar on drums and percussion.
Thanks to them, every “Parrothead,” or Buffett fan in Northeast Georgia can listen to Buffett tunes for one night.
But before the show begins, Corkscrew Cafe is sponsoring a Jimmy Buffett Tailgate Party from 5:30-7:45 p.m. Saturday.
The café is reserving its downstairs bistro area for the private party for Holly Theater patrons only. It will include live music, a full bar, and a 90-foot-long illuminated Starry Night Over Dahlonega mural.
Tickets are $5. Patrons may also exchange their ticket for one item off the new tapas menu such as Georgia boiled peanut hummus or housemade gourmet pork rinds. If you don’t want tapas, apply the ticket to any food purchase.
