Discovering an ancient-looking arrowhead in your yard or finding a fossilized bone during a hike in the woods may excite most folks. But what if you could prove it is a Native American artifact?

The Blue Ridge Archaeology Guild has scheduled Artifact ID Day to do just that.

The guild will identify prehistoric items from 1-4 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Northeast Georgia History Center on the Brenau University campus. The public is invited to bring in any prehistoric Native American artifacts to determine its type, time period and possible functions. No values are estimated.

The free event will be at 322 Academy Street N.E. in Gainesville.
