Children ranging in age from 8 to 12 years old can get creative with clay thanks to local artist Julia Holmes.

The sculptor will teach a three-week clay sculptors’ workshop on Saturdays, March 12, 19 and 26 at the Helen Arts & Heritage Center. Workshops are set for 10 a.m. to noon in the clay studio at the arts center, at 25 Chattahoochee Strasse, Helen.

Sculpting and creating smaller, hand-built pieces will be covered during the first two weeks. Students will apply glazes to their clay pieces on the last Saturday of the workshop. The final stage of glaze firing will be completed afterward.

Parents will be notified when the finished pieces are ready.

Cost of the three-day workshop is $75; registration and payment are due March 9. Register and pay online at helenarts.org, or at the arts center.

The center is open noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday with free parking in the rear area of the building.
