Instead of admiring well-landscaped yards from afar, area gardeners will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a few master designs this weekend.

On Saturday, the Hall County Master Gardeners will host their "In Our Own Back Yards" garden walk. The group hosts the event every other year.

The walk gives participants the opportunity to tour five private, and one public, gardens.

"Showcasing the talents of some of our leading master gardeners creates a wonderful garden-tour experience," said Leslie Johnson, who leads the tour committee.

"The gardeners have been working for the past year to ready their garden. Each one is distinct in style and design."

The tour will do more than just showcase beautiful gardens. Each site will also offer additional perks. Participants will find refreshments at two of the gardens, live music at one and educational information at two others. One garden will also be passing out free plants, courtesy of the master gardeners.

"We’re also highlighting our demonstration garden, Gardens on Green, at the Hall County Board of Education office," Johnson said.

"These public gardens have been designed and installed by our master gardeners and serve as an educational resource to Hall County Schools and the community at large."

Tickets for the walk are $10 in advance and $15 Saturday.

Advance tickets are available at a number of locations, including the Hall County Extension office, 734 E. Crescent Drive, Suite 300, Gainesville.

Tickets will be available the day of the walk at each of the six garden locations.
