Gainesville man flips for a cause
Athlete aims to set record, raise funds for firemen
Greg Cochran of Gainesville flips a 555-pound tire during the final minutes of his successful world record attempt in November 2010. He flipped it 203 times.

Gainesville resident Greg Cochran plans to flip out Saturday at Buffalo Wild Wings.

The fitness guru will attempt to break the world record of flipping a 555-pound tire. Cochran holds the current world record at 203 flips in one hour. He set it in November 2010 during a fundraising event on Browns Bridge Road. The feat earned him the honor “most tire flips in one hour using a 555-pound tire” by the World Records Academy.

Cochran’s attempt on Saturday will raise funds for fitness equipment for Hall County firefighters and EMTs. Buffalo Wild Wings also will donate 10 percent of food sales between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to the cause.

Buffalo Wild Wings in Gainesville has teamed up with Cochran to create a “fliptastic” event surrounding his world-record attempt. Activities will include a dunk tank, face painting and a bunge run. Music will also entertain the crowds.

Activities will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings at 1185 Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville. Cochran will attempt to break his world record starting at 11:30 a.m.
