Before they’re all grown up and out on their own, the Gainesville Parks and Recreation Department is giving fathers an opportunity to bond with their daughters.

The department is busy preparing for the Princess Ball, better known as the 13th annual Daddy Daughter dance at the Gainesville Civic Center, 830 Green St. The event will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on three different days next week. Each day will cater to a different age group.

The dance for middle school and high school daughters and their fathers will be held on Tuesday. The dance for third- through fifth-graders will be held on Feb. 23 and the dance for girls in pre-kindergarten through second grade will be held on Feb. 24.

Tickets for the dances are $20 per person, but $15 for every additional daughter after the first one. Participants must pre-register. The RSVP deadline is Friday, or whenever maximum capacity for the dance is reached.

According to parks and recreation staff, the available spaces are filling up fast.

If you register online, you’ll automatically be entered into a drawing for two, free dance tickets. If your name is selected, you’ll be reimbursed for two tickets at the dance.
