Gainesville High to bring 'Li'l Abner' comic strip to life May 4-6

Based on the comic strip crafted by Al Capp, young thespians from Gainesville High School will bring the characters from “Li’l Abner” to the stage with song and dance.

The upbeat and wacky musical will showcase the feisty and fun Daisy Mae, who is not about to lose out on any chances of catching her sweetheart Li’L Abner. The production will tell this tale with fast numbers, dance moves and catchy tunes.

“Li’l Abner” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. May 4-6 at the high school, 830 Century Place, in Gainesville.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors 65 and older. They must be requested ahead of time by emailing ghstheatre@bellsouth.net with the number of tickets, the name of the ticketholder and the day and date of the show. The school asks ticketholders to all for up to 24 hours for an email confirmation.

Tickets may be picked up the night of the show at the box office, which opens at 6:30 p.m. Audience members must pay in cash and pay for the number of requested tickets.
