North Georgia artisans including painters, gardeners, photographers, woodworkers, sculptors and jewelry makers will display and sell their wares at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, A Smithgall Woodland Legacy in Gainesville.

The botanical garden is hosting its inaugural event, Woodland Ramble, for the first time in the garden. The arts and crafts market will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at 1911 Sweetbay Drive, Gainesville.

“We are planning to grow it into a two-day event next year with food and music,” said Cyndilyn Loudermilk, visitor services manager for the Gainesville garden. “We will have food and drinks for purchase this year with Grubbin’ Out food truck, King of Pops and Buttermilk Pie Company and a full (cash) bar with water, soft drinks, beer and wine.”

The event will include artisans from all across North Georgia, Loudermilk said, and many offerings will be nature-themed items.

“We have painters, garden photography, woodworkers, clay work, gourd sculptures, terrariums, soy and beeswax items, natural lotions and scrubs, jewelry and, even potato jewelry,” she said. “Most of our artisans focus on natural or upcycled items.”

Bees Naturales out of Murrayville will be there with its beeswax candles and lip balms. Beachartz, based out of North Georgia and South Florida, will sell its handmade jewelry, created from and inspired by elements in Georgia and Florida.

Other featured artisans include Southern E-Scentuals candles and air fresheners, the Laughing Cabin decor, Art in Jill’s Garden, the Art of Kat Moore, art from Alisha Gratehouse Designs, Handmaiden Store soaps and lotions, My Favorite Things handmade blankets, Gnome and Garden decor, vintage items from Fairfax and Davis, My Favorite Photos and many more.

“I would encourage folks to attend to support local artisans,” Loudermilk said. “For some it may be the first time they experience our little slice of serenity. They can do some holiday shopping and enjoy the late summer blooms, butterflies and dragonflies as well.”

Entry to the market is included with the cost of garden admission. For more information, visit atlantabg.org/visit/gainesville.
