As Labor Day approaches to mark the unofficial end to summer, Habersham County United Way plans to celebrate in style with fireworks and food.
The Family Fun Fest will be from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Habersham County Recreation Center, 120 Paul Franklin Road, in Clarkesville.
Admission is $5. Arm bands for unlimited rides cost $5.
The festival will feature carnival games as well as laser tag and sumo wrestling.
Habersham County native John King will entertain festivalgoers with a live concert. King is a country music artist, who inked a deal in 2013 with Black River Entertainment, who represents “Dancing with the Stars” champion and acclaimed singer/songwriter Kellie Pickler and country music superstar Craig Morgan.
King currently is in the studio recording his debut album for Black River Entertainment and continues to tour.
Closing out the Family Fun Fest will be a fireworks show.

On the same day, the Grant Street Music Room will have a benefit concert at 7 p.m. for the Songs For Kids Foundation.
Performing at the concert will be Aardvark Park, Drunk on the Wind, Astro Phantom, K Macks and the Taj Motel Trio.
Songs For Kids Foundation integrates musicians year-round into the lives of kids in and out of children’s hospitals and special needs camps through live interactive concerts, hospital bedside performances.
The concert will be from 7 p.m. to midnight at 583 Grant St. in Clarkesville.
