While Christmas consumerism runs rampant this holiday season, the Environmental and Heritage Center is offering an escape to the hustle and bustle.
The EHC is scheduling a return to a more tranquil time when a brightly lit home full of family and neighbors made for a warm and festive winter’s night at McDaniel Farm.
Visitors can become engulfed by the sights, smells and sounds of holidays past during December at 3251 McDaniel Road in Duluth. Costumed guides will share historic customs and traditions from the Victorian period and provide guests with a glimpse of everyday life on a family farm.
“This is a great opportunity to see McDaniel Farm from a different perspective,” EHC’s programming director Jason West said. “The farm will be aglow with the warmth of candles and will be decorated with fresh greenery and period holiday ornaments.”
Guests will be treated to a cups of hot chocolate or apple cider and have the opportunity to make a special holiday craft.
The 1«-hour guided candlelight tour will be offered Dec. 11- 14 and 19-22. Tours are scheduled to begin at 6 and 7 p.m.
The fee is $5 per person. EHC members are free. Preregistration is required and can be done at www.gwinnettEHC.org.
