Classic musical to open colleges theater group's season

Some of the most popular works in theater history will be part of the Piedmont College Theatre’s 2011-2012 season.

The season begins with the musical “South Pacific,” directed by professor John Spiegel. The World War II tale features the iconic songs of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. 

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 1 and 2 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Mainstage Theater. Due to the nature of the show, some content is for mature audiences.

The holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, directed by professor Bill Gabelhausen, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17-19 and 2 p.m., Nov. 20 at the Mainstage Theater.

Next spring’s performance is “A Little Night Music” set for Feb. 16-19, followed by  “The Nerd” April 12-14 and April 15, in the Blackbox Theater.
