Take one fiddler, one drummer/saxophonist and one guitarist, then add one caller and you have the entertainment for January’s monthly contra dance in Sautee Nacoochee.

The three-piece band, ContraForce, will play Saturday, Jan. 23, in the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association’s historic gym. ContraForce combines the bowing arm of fiddler Andrae Raffield, the syncopated rhythms of drummer and saxophone player Joey Dorwart and the acoustic and electric guitar picking of Jimi Periano.

Caller Charlotte Crittendon will join them to instruct the dancers.

The dance will begin with a free lesson at 7:30 p.m. followed by dancing from 8-11 p.m. at the Sautee Nacoochee Center, 283 Ga. 255 North, in Sautee. No partner or prior experience is necessary.

Tickets are $7 for SNCA members, $9 nonmembers, $5 for high school or college students and free for children 12 and younger.
