Cornelia filled with holiday spirit
Santa Claus will be inside his workshop and will pose for photos with children during Cornelia’s annual Christmas in the Park event.

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is upon the city of Cornelia, which plans to celebrate in style.

Cornelia will once again host the annual tradition of Christmas in the Park, starting at 6 p.m. Dec. 17.

Activities will include ice skating on the Fieldale Farms Ice Rink behind the Community House; the Christmas Market full of arts and crafts; and free visits with Santa in his elf workshop inside the Community House.

Ice skating will take place every day between Dec. 17 and Dec. 21. Cost is $5 per person and includes skate rental. Hours are from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 5-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 2-8 p.m. Sunday.

Hayrides will run in conjunction with all the ice skating hours, including 5-8 p.m. Sunday.

Thanks to donations from local businesses, the basement of the community house will be filled with free make and take craft stations.

Participants may top the night off with a hayride through the lights and roast marshmallows around the fire pits for S’mores. Light refreshments will be for sale throughout the event. Hours are from 6-9 p.m. Friday and 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19-20.

The elf workshop and Santa will be in the Community House from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Pictures with Santa will be posted on the Cornelia Main Street Facebook page no later than Dec. 22.

Visitors may also use their own cameras for photos.

All activities are rain or shine. In the event of inclement winter weather, check the Cornelia Main Street Facebook page for updates.
