With an impending trip to Italy on the horizon, the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville chancel choir will give one final performance before heading overseas.
The Coro Sacra concert will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at the church at 800 S. Enota in Gainesville. The Coro Sacra is the group set to tour and perform in Italy.
This performance will close out the 2013-2014 concert series, which was designed to raise financial support for the tour. All the needed funds have been raised, allowing the final concert to be free of charge.
The Coro Sacra, or Sacred Chorus, is composed of singers from the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville’s chancel choir and its counterparts from the Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. The choir will be directed by Emily Floyd and Michael Henry, and assisted by Dr. WooYoung Choi from Agnes Scott College.
Gainesville soprano Michelle Martin will be a featured soloist for their concerts in Italy.
The choir will sing for Masses at St. Peter’s in Rome, St. Francis Basilica in Assisi and St. Mark’s in Venice. It will also present concerts at St. Paul’s Within the Walls in Rome, and the Santa Trinita Church in Florence.
