While BabyLand General celebrates the birth of Cabbage Patch babies daily, the hospital plans to return to days of long ago.
The 36th annual Appalachian Christmas Celebration is schedule to be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the world famous Cabbage Patch birthplace in Cleveland.
Admission is free for North Georgia residents to see the holiday decorations. More than 75 different indoor Christmas trees range from 10-foot tall traditional trees to whimsical 3-foot tall themed trees.
Special activities during the day will begin with a pancake breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the BabyLand ballroom. Tickets are $10 and reservations required.
New this year is milk and cookies with Mrs. Claus. The woman behind the man, Mrs. Claus, manages Santa and a house full of elves at the North Pole year round. She enjoyed last year’s visit to BabyLand General so much, she agreed to return to host milk and cookies with Mrs. Claus while Santa visits with the children. Open seating for Milk and Cookies will be from 1-4 p.m. in the ballroom. Cost is $5. No reservations required.
Other activities include hourly prize drawings, Cabbage Patch Kids Costumed Characters, pictures with Santa, free candy canes, strolling Victorian carolers and specially priced toy Cabbage Patch Kids.
At 5 p.m. visitors on hand will be eligible for a grand-prize drawing of a hand-stitched-to-birth Appalachian Christmas collection Little Person valued at $365.
The spectacular lighting of BabyLand wraps up the celebration after the drawing.
