The International Ballet Intensive’s three-week residential summer dance program, under the direction of Danita Emma and Momchil Mladenov, culminates with a public performance by the elite group of young dancers at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, in the Hosch Theatre at the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts on Brenau University’s Gainesville campus.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors at the door.
The hourlong program will include a range of pieces touching on different styles such as a newly created ballet to Debussy’s “Piano Nocturne,” modern work set to the music of Astor Piazzolla and a jazz piece set to the music of Leon Parker, to name a few.
IBI’s mission is to develop the elegant science of classical ballet technique with professional, pre-professional and advanced dancers to enhance their capacity as performing artists through educational programs, performance opportunities and international cultural exchanges. IBI’s summer program elevates the dancer technically and artistically through the exposure to a variety of disciplines, with its primary emphasis on classical ballet.
