Beer, wines and bands with the names such as Twisted Whiskey and Southern Accent will pour into Dawsonville for a festival this weekend.
Launched last year, the Dawsonville Music & Beer Festival will run from 6-11:30 p.m. Friday and 1-11:30 p.m. Saturday behind Dawsonville City Hall at 415 Ga. 53 in Dawsonville.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $20 for a two-day pass. VIP tickets are $30 and include a meet-and-greet with the Across the Wide band, a free T-shirt, two free drinks and a tour of the Moonshine Distillery and Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. Children 12 and younger may enter for free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.freshtix.com or at the gate the day of the event.
The festival will feature area country bands, including Alex Hall, Twisted Whiskey, Jacob Bryant, Southern Accent, Across the Wide, Johnny Awesome, Kurt Thomas Band and Radford Windham & the Step Back Cadillacs. For performance times for each band, check the Dawsonville Beer Festival page on Facebook.
Craft vendors for children will be onsite along with a bounce house and slide.
More than 6,000 people attended the event last year and more than $6,000 were raised for two local charities. With a radio station partnering in the event, organizers expect numbers to double or triple.
Two charities will be the beneficiaries of this year’s event. The first will be Zac Brown’s Camp Southern Ground, which is being built to help children with autism, attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Campers will meet with specialty doctors, participate in camp activities and learn healthy ways of eating food grown organically.
The second charity will be the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, which a museum based in Dawsonville and strengthens the community’s connection with NASCAR.
