Whether you want to write a book or just improve your writing skills, Gloria Stargel and Elouise Whitten can help you with both fiction and nonfiction.

The authors will share their experiences at a workshop at 1 p.m. today at the Hall County Library in Gainesville.

Stargel and Whitten will touch on the elements of writing, such as structure, character description and voice, and generating ideas. They also will share tips and answer questions about getting published.

Stargel, a 2003 inductee into the Brenau University Hall of Fame, is the award-winning author of two books, "The Healing" and "My Anchor Holds." She is an assignment writer for Guideposts Magazine and a contributing author to "Chicken Soup for the Teacher's Soul," which was No. 1 on the New York Times Best Seller List. Whitten taught short fiction in Atlanta's first American Christian Writers three-day conference. She taught her own all-day novel course.

She taught for Brenau Leisure and Learning Institute, directed six Northeast Georgia Writers Conferences at Breneau, and directed quarterly writing conferences for Northeast Georgia Writers in 2010. She is currently writing a novel and a nonfiction book.
