Chestatee’s wrestling program is looking for a new head coach after Scott DeGraff informed his team that he is leaving to take a job in another school system, according to a statement emailed Thursday by Hall County athletics director Stan Lewis.
DeGraff, who graduated from Chestatee as a student in 2008 and served as an assistant coach for the program from 2011-19 before becoming head coach in 2020, helped the War Eagles and Lady War Eagles programs both become a factor on the statewide level over the past three seasons.
Among the program’s accomplishments under his guidance were the girls team claiming the first state girls all-classification championship officially recognized by the Georgia High School Association this season, as well as a third-place showing in the Class 4A state duals and a fourth-place finish in the 4A state traditional tournament this season.
