Tyler Brown, George Bradley and Garry Glenn each claimed gold medals in their respective divisions at the American Powerlifting Committee National Championship this weekend in Norfolk, Va.
Brown, a rising senior at East Hall, won in both the full power and bench-only category in the men’s 16-17 year old, super heavyweight division. In the process he broke his own national records in the squat and deadlift and established new World United Amateur Powerlifting world records in the squat, deadlift and bench press.
Bradley of Gainesville took the title in the Men’s Masters 50-54 year old, 60-kilogram class, and Glenn won the title in the Men’s 50-54 year old, 82.5-kilogram class.
It’s the third national championship for Glenn, but his first at the weight. He won titles in 2004 and 2007 at 90 kilograms.
