Chestatee boys take first place at North Oconee cross country meet

Chestatee boys runners took the top two overall spots and 4 of the top 10 as it won in the 17-team field at the North Oconee meet on Thursday in Bogart. 

Aaron Retana took first overall for the defending Class 4A state champions with a time of 16 minutes, 53.12 seconds. 

Also for Chestatee, Garrett Grater took second overall (16:54), while his twin brother Gavin Grater was seventh (17:11.44). Javier Rebollar took eighth overall for the War Eagles (17:12.94).

Gainesville’s John Jessup was third overall (17:00).

The Red Elephants’ boys placed second. 

In the girls race, North Hall’s Harleigh Smith placed first overall (20:05) for the second-place team. 

Flowery Branch’s Bella Brick took second place (20:23), while Gainesville’s Ashley Thompson finished third (20:49).
