Second baseman Drew Sutton’s two-run double in the top of the eighth broke a scoreless tie and propelled the Gwinnett Braves to a 3-0 win over the Charlotte Knights in game one of a three-game series at Knights Stadium on Friday night. Gwinnett starter Yohan Flande was again close to unhittable in his third start of the year. The lefty retired the first 13 batters of the game before Charlotte DH Dan Johnson delivered a one-out infield single in the fifth.
