Hall County’s annual Jakes Day is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 23 at the Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center. JAKES stands for Juniors Achieving Knowledge and Ethics in Sportsmanship.
The long list of activities includes skeet shooting, archery, catfish rodeo, fishing ponds, knife and hatchet throwing, BB gun shooting, turkey calling, frisbee throw, children’s games and much more.
Last year approximately 1,000 children participated in this free event that offers environmental education and fun for the whole family. Get there early because the first 300 kids will get a free T-shirt. All of these activities are sure to work up an appetite so there will be free Dairy Queen hot dogs, drinks and snacks. This event is sponsored by the Foothills Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation & Hall County Parks & Leisure Services.
