LAS VEGAS — Freshmen Erika Ford and Krista Donald made a smooth transition into Georgia's starting lineup.

Ford and Jasmine Hassell each scored 18 points to lead No. 10 Georgia to an 81-61 victory over Northeastern on Sunday in the Lady Rebel Round-Up consolation game.

Ford and Jasmine James each had seven rebounds for Georgia (5-1) and Khaalidah Miller had 16 points. Donald contributed seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

Following Saturday's 64-58 loss to No. 21 Georgetown in the first round, Georgia coach Andy Landers altered his.

"I thought they played very well," Landers said. "I thought Ford was great defensively and very good offensively. Same thing with Donald. And both of them went to the boards and rebounded.

"(We're) just really shuffling that lineup to find somebody that might embrace the challenge of being a starter," he said. "It's not anything that I've been plotting or planning, but as a result of the way we played again yesterday, that did bring it about."

Nine players had at least two points and one rebound for the Lady Bulldogs, who had a 45-29 rebounding edge.

"We went to the boards and rebounded the ball much better than we did yesterday," Landers said. "We handled the press and scored at the end of it much better than we did yesterday."

Northeastern (0-6) was led by Jewel Tunstull with 15 points while Deanna Kerkhof added 13 points and Jamie Conroy had 11 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs held a 39-31 halftime lead over the Huskies. Ford had team highs of 10 points, five rebounds and two steals at halftime while Kerkhof led the Huskies with 12 points.

All five starters had scored at least two points by the time the Lady Bulldogs opened a 17-5 lead with 13:15 left in the first half. They twice led by as many as 17 points during the first 20 minutes.

In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run and took a 57-40 lead with 9:24 left.
