Local golf: White wins low gross game Tuesday

The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a low net, low gross game Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Mona White won the low gross in the first flight. Joann Stone and Ethel Smith tied for second in the low net.

In the second flight, Caroyln Brown won the low gross and Nancy Norris won the low net.

Closest to the pin winners were Betty Norton (No. 3) and Violet Reynolds (No. 17).

Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best ball, net aggregated strokes game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

The team of Jere Cochran, Ed Pledger, Leroy Harper and Bob Watson won the game. Jack Costello, Doug Van, Walt Schneider and Bud Clegg finished second. Eddie Johnson, Larry Cohan, Jim Hollobaugh and Greg Taira finished third.

Bob Henderson, John Beem, Milton Martin and Bob Boetz placed fourth. Dick Staebell, Glynn Rogers, Warren Jahn and Bob Layne finished fifth.

Closest to the pin winners were Taira (No. 3), Dale Richardson (No. 5), Jim Hesser (No. 12) and Jahn (No. 17).

Wednesday Dogfight

Chicopee Woods Golf Course played host to this week’s Wednesday Dogfight.

Greg Lee, Vince Jonte and Ken Lightfoot won the match. Jerry Horton, Gayle Gibson and Geoff Archibald finished second. Jim Arendt and Bill Jorgenson placed third.

Lee also won individually. Tim Miller finished second, Tom Bolton and Lightfoot tied for third. Horton, Lori Clark and Steve Ballard tied for fifth.

Loggins shoots age

Local golfer Don Loggins shot his age (71) this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Loggins earned the score on the Mill/School courses.

Askew cards hole-in-one

Local golfer Danny Askew connected on a hole-in-one on No. 4 at the school course Friday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Askew used a pitching wedge and a Top Flite ball.
