Local golf: Kennedy hits ace at Chicopee Woods

Local golfer Joe Kennedy shot a hole-in-one last Saturday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.
Kennedy shot the hole-in-one on hole No. 2 on The Mill course using a Cleveland pitching wedge and a Titleist HXT ball.

The Chicopee Woods Players Championship Pro-Am was held last Sunday on the School & Village course at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Michael Westbrook, Bo Weber, Roger Stapp and Roger Hogan won the championship. Second place went to Frank Bambarger, Brian Coley, Lennie Holland and Greg Lee. Third place went to Jed Bates, Daryl Dunekel, Mark Montgomery and Jim Arendt. Fourth place went to Simmie Miller, Blake Nix, Branon Martin and Glen Herrell.

eff Frasier (67) won the individual championship. Brian Dixon (69) finished second. Lee, Jeff Hull and Clark Spratlin (70) finished tied for third.

The Wednesday Dogfight Golf Group played this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.
Tom Bolton, Dan Arthurs, Ken Lightfoot and Mike Tilson won the game. Neil Tolbert, Glen Whitmire, Bob Arendt and Don Vandewater finished second.

Arendt finished first individually.

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a three best ball, net strokes game on Wednesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Carlyle Cox, Chuck Landergott, Joe Kolesar and Don Wells won the game.

Second place went to Don Graff, Warren Jahn, A.J. Kiker and Jere Cochran.

Third place finished in a tie between the team of Glynn Rogers, Milton Martin, Johnny Little and Lua Blankenship and the team of John Beem, J. B. Johnston and Ron Hopley.

Fifth place finished in a tie between the team of Bill Falls, Eddie Johnson, Clay Bartlett and Tony Denote, the team of John T. Smith, Buzz Hansen, Ben Brooks and Harmon Smith and the team of Roy Lyle, Bob Henderson, Denny Momper and Lee Bowers.

Closest to the pin winners were Dwight Olson (No. 3) and Harry Barnett (No. 5, No. 12, No. 17).

The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a two-person team event this week. Ethel Smith and Bea Fischer won low gross. Peggy Hall and Nora Gleason won the low net.

Closest to the pin winners were Fischer (No. 5) and Beulah Land (No. 12).
