Local golf: Hansen team wins golf tournament

The team of Buzz Hansen and Bill Kratzenberg won the 10th Annual Futtrell Invitational Golf Tournament on Monday at Hammer’s Glen Golf Course in Homer.

Hansen shot a 65 to win the Sandbagger Award, given to the lowest individual net score in the two-person, net strokes best ball format Invitational.

Second place finished in a tie between the team of Ed Pledger and A.J. Kiker, the team of Roger Futrell and Gary Walker and the team of Mike Norten and Roy Lyle.

The team of Jim Hesser and Leo Walen finished fifth. Sixth place finished in a tie between the team of Bob Watson and Jim Carroll, the team of Jack Costello and Jerald Kiker, the team of Larry Cohan and Marty Tabacchi and the team of Bill Wittel and Stu Virgin.

Closest to the pin winners were Futrell (No. 2), Jerald Kiker (No. 6), and Tom Felch (No. 13, No. 17).
Along with Hansen’s award, other awards were the Taildragger Award (given to the highest individual net score) to Whalen, the Oldtimer Award (given to the oldest player) to 84 year-old Dick Freeman and the Traveler Award (given to the player who traveled the greatest distance to compete) to Felch, who traveled from Wausau, Wisconsin.

Wednesday win for Harper at Chattahoochee event

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly individual strokes competition on Wednesday at Chatthoochee Golf Course.

Leroy Harper won the White Tee First Flight. Warren Jahn finished second, Joe Kolesar and Jack Costello tied for third and Paul Payne and Bill Ingram tied for fifth.

Doug Van won the White Tee Second Flight. Johnny Little finished second, Stu Virgin finished third, George Clegg finished fourth and Eddie Johnson finished fifth.

The winner of the Gold Tee First Flight finished tied between Ron Hopley and Jerry Ermlich. Harry Barnett finished second, Bob Pyne finished third and J.B. Johnson finished fifth.

Jim Hesser won the Gold Tee Second Flight. Wayne Nelson finished second and Milton Martin finished third.

Closest to the pin winners were Bob Henderson (No. 3), Dick Freeman (No. 5), Ed Pledger (No. 12) and Lee Bowers (No. 17).

Bolton’s team wins Chicopee Woods dogfight

The Wednesday Dogfight Golf Group played this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

The team of Tom Bolton, Mike Stokes, Corey Stokes, and Mike Zeigler finished first with a minus-17. The team of Glen Whitmire, Dan Arthurs, Steve Ballard and Don Gardner finished second with a minus-17. Ballard and Roger Stapp tied for first individually.

Guys and Dolls gather at Chattahoochee tournament

The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association hosted the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association in the Guys and Dolls Tournament on Tuesday. The tournament was played in a Four-Person Team Modified Lauderdale.

The team of Sue Cronmiller, Paula Pilgrim, Paul Payne and Bob Pyne won the tournament. Second place went to the team of Beulah Land, Peggy Hall, John Gibbs and Bob Allen. Third place went to the team of Dorie Pyne, Sandi Rackleff, A.J. Kiker and Milton Martin. Closest to the pin winners were Susan Prather (No. 3), Dorie Pyne (No. 17),  Bob Pyne (No. 5) and Joe Kolesar (No. 12).

Luna’s group takes on Hammer’s Glen course

The Luna’s Tuesday Golf Group played this week at Hammer’s Glen Golf Course.

The team of Rob Emerson, Royce Deaton, Frank House and Don Rogers won the event. Second place went to the team of Sam McGee, Cleve Brown, Ken Chahoy and Marvin Peek.Closest to the pin winners were Stan Davidson Sr. (No. 6), Emerson (No. 2, No. 17), and Rogers (No. 13)
