Local golf: Chattahoochee plays host to two best ball event

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best ball net points game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Eddie Johnson, Roy Lyle, Jere Cochran and Donald Graff finished first with 72 points. Second place went to Dick Freeman, A.J. Kiker, Greg Taira and Dwight Olson with 70 points.

Third place went to Jack Costello, Larry Jewett, Paul Payne and Roy Bartlett with 67 points.

The team of Ed Pledger, Bob Layne, Claude Schneider and John T. Smith tied the team of J.B. Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and Gary Myers with 66 points.

The team of John Williams, Don Wells, Robery Pyne and Tony Denote and the team of Buddy Reeves, Marty Anderson, Gary Palmer and Joe Kolesar tied for sixth with 64 points.

Closest to the pin winners were Williams with a hole-in-one (No. 3), Harry Barnett (No. 5), J.B. Johnson (No. 12) and Dick Bachman (No. 17).

Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association 

The Chattahoochee’s Ladies Golf Association played a four-person Stableford points game Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

First place went to Bea Fischer, Paula Pilgrim, Nora Gleason and Ann White. Mona White, Beulah Land, Sally Smith and Mary Lou Evans finished second. Sue Cronmiller, Susan Prather, Nancy Norris and Johanna Stone placed third.

Closest to the pin winners were Terry Maginnis (No. 3) and Sissy Lawson (No. 12).

Wednesday Dogfight 

Chicopee Woods Golf Course held a Wednesday Dogfight this week.

Dan Arthurs, Mack Black, Mike Zeigler and Vince Jonte finished first. Josh Armour, Terry Clegg, Neal Tolbert and Nick Sellers placed second.

Tim Miller finished first individually. Arthurs and Clegg tied for second, Zeigler finished fourth and Armour and Jonte tied for fifth.
