Local golf: Brooks, Momper, Smith and Martin win CMA event

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best ball, aggregated net strokes game Wednesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

First place went to the team of Ben Brooks, Denny Momper, Harmon Smith and Milton Martin.

Closest to the pin winners were Gary Myers (No. 3), Ron Hopley (No. 5), Buddy Reeves (No. 12) and Bob Henderson (No. 17).

Luna’s Tuesday Golf Group: The Luna’s Tuesday golf group played this week at Traditions Golf Course in Braselton.

First place went to the team of Mark Thorton, Nelson Wright, Ken Chahoy and Grady Smith. Second place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Johnny Nix, Tommy Lowery and Stan Davidson Sr. Closest to the pin winners were Thorton (No. 3), Don Rogers (No. 8), Smith (No. 12), Tom Sexton (No. 14) and Doug Van (No. 17).

Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a low gross, low net game Tuesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the first flight, Violet Reynolds and Sue Cronmiller tied for first in the low gross, while Reynolds and Norma Remmlinger tied for first in the low net.

In the second flight, Johann Stone and Betty Norton tied for first in the low gross. Norton won the low net.

Stone also shot a hole-in-one on No. 5 for the second time this year. Other closest to the pin winners were Beulah Land (No. 3) and Carolyn Brown (No. 17).

Wednesday Dogfight: The Wednesday Dogfight Golf Group played this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

First place went to the team of Tommy Calhoun, Geoff Archibald, Sonny Sykes and Yoko Komoto. Second place went to the team of Tom Bolton, Bob Arendt, Nick Hart and Lori Clark.

Archibald and Frank Bambarger finished first in individual play.

DPG Golf Group: The DPG Golf Group played this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Charley Kilby won in Monday’s game, followed by Don Schrum in second.

On Wednesday, Kilby finished first again, this time in a tie with Shell and Dwight Miller. Kilby and Shell also finished first in team play.

Kilby picked up his third individual win of the week Friday, along with his second team win, with Ken Lightfoot.
