Local golf: Bolton, Black, Horton and Komoto win Wednesday Dogfight

The Wednesday Dogfight golf group played this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

First place went to the team of Tom Bolton, Mark Black, Jerry Horton and Yoko Komoto. Second place went to the team of Brandon Martin, Terry Clegg, Nick Hart and Don Schrum.

Komoto also finished first individually. Mike Tilson and Martin finished second, Black finished fourth and Greg Lee, Bolton and Dan Arthurs finished fifth.

The Luna’s Tuesday golf group played this week at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

First place went to the team of Donnie W. Smith, Johnny Nix, Frank House and Stan Davidson Sr. Second place went to the team of Stan Davidson Jr., Richard Strickland, Tommy Lowery and Doug McMahan. Third place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Don Smallwood, Steve Gailey and Doug Van.

Closest to the pin winners were Van (No. 3), Rob Emerson (No. 5), Cleve Brown (No. 12), and Strickland (No. 17).

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best ball, net points game Wednesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

First place went to the team of Wayne Nelson, Don Wells, Bob Watson and J.B. Johnston. Second place went to the team of Claude Schneider, Eddie Johnson, Carlyle Cox and Rolf Legbandt. Third place went to the team of Chuck Landergott, Gene Weschler and Paul Payne. Fourth place went to the team of Greg Taira, Jack Costello, Bill Sutton and Tony Denote. Fifth place went to the team of Guy Long, Stu Virgin, Joe Kolesar and Denny Momper.

Closest to the pin winners were Don Wells (No. 3), Joe Kolesar (No. 5, No. 17), Carlyle Kolesar (No. 5), Carlyle Cox (No. 12).

The Royal Lakes Golf Course held its annual Member-Guest golf tournament Aug. 7-8.

Eric Bohn and Randy Cronic were the overall shootout champions, winning in a chip-off on the final hole.

Flight winners were Andy Nix and Robbie Bailey with 31 points in the first flight, Horace Gee and Josh Armour with 32 points in the second flight, Dannie Dingess and Jonathan Benton with 30 points in the third flight, Shannon Kent and Alan Vanvalkenburg with 30 points in the fourth flight, Gordon Crenshaw and Wayne Helms with 29 1/2 in the fifth flight and Bohn and Cronic with 29 points in sixth flight.

Jarrod Cagle also won the golf course’s putting contest and long drive competitions on Aug. 6.

The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a low gross low net event on Tuesday. Low Gross was won by Betty Norton. Low Net was won by Carolyn Palmer. Betty Norton won closest to the pin on No. 3 and Nancy Norris won on No. 17.

The Dedicated Players Group played three matches this week with first place going to Charley Kilby, Dwight Miller, and Don Schrum. Second place went to Dwight Miller who tied Terrence Dale and Steve Knowles, who took second on both Wednesday and Friday.
