Local kayaker Morgan House will be honored as a "hometown hero" during a reception at 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Peach State Bank on Washingon Street in downtown Gainesville.

House recently returned from a Olympic qualifying competition in Canada and Hungary, where he fell just short of making the 2008 Olympic team.
