White County softball to play in Class AAA state championship

Led by a complete-game from Stephanie Satterfield in the pitcher’s cirlce, the White County High softball team defeated West Laurens 4-1 on Friday to advance to the Class AAA state title game at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

White County awaits the winner of Allatoona/West Laurens.

With the game scoreless through the first three innings, Morgan Jacobson hit a solo home run to put White County up 1-0 in the top of the fourth. West Laurens answered in the bottom of the inning to tie the score.

With the score still 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning, an error by West Laurens’ left fielder allowed a White County runner to reach base.

Laura Sangster stepped to the plate next and hit a two-run home run to give White County a 3-1 lead.

In the top of the seventh inning, Sarabeth Cummins reached on another West Laurens’ error and was followed by an intentional walk of Satterfield. Callie McDonald then singled, driving in Cummins to give White County the 4-1 lead.

The Lady Warriors committed no errors in the game.
