Led by Angie Hughes’ complete game, 15-strikeout performance in the circle, the Union County softball team defeated Dawson County 1-0 on Thursday in Dawsonville.

With the win, Class AA’s No. 3-ranked Lady Panthers improve to 19-1-1 overall and 8-0 in Region 8A-AA.

Matraca McKim led Union County from the plate, going 2-for-3 with the game’s only RBI. Kaitlyn Seabolt and Callie Dyer each went 1-for-3 and Becka Merritt went 1-for-2 for Union County, which plays host to East Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
