Softball state playoffs scoreboard: Oct. 10

Taylor Kennedy led Banks County at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a pair of triples, an RBI and three runs scored as the Lady Leopards lost to Blessed Trinity in Game 1 of the AAA State Playoffs, before winning 5-1 in Game 2.

McKenna Rylee, Haley Warner and Sara Holloway each had an RBI single. Mallory Parson picked up the win from the circle in Game 2, pitching all seven innings.

Banks County travels to Blessed Trinity for a decisive Game 3 at 4:30 today in Roswell. The winner moves on to the second round.

CLASS AA STATE PLAYOFFS: Jefferson shut out Manchester in Games 1 and 2 by scores of 15-0 and 14-0 in a first-round playoff series on Wednesday in Jefferson to advance to the second round of the state playoffs.

Morgan McKinney was the winning pitcher in both games, striking out 14 total, and Emily Holman got the save in Game 2 with three strikeouts.

At the plate, the Lady Dragons (19-14) were led by Ashley Boyd and Savannah Snapp, who each went 4 for 6 with four RBIs. Jordan Phillips was 2 for 3 with three RBIs in Game 1, and Erin Jackson was 1 for 2 with a pair of RBIs. McKinney went 2 for 3 with three RBIs in Game 2, and Megan Faulkner was 2 for 2 with three RBIs.

Jefferson plays host to Dade County in the second round on Wednesday in Jefferson.

CLASS AAAA STATE PLAYOFFS: Lumpkin County defeated Alexander 8-1 and 9-3 on Wednesday in Douglasville to advance to the second round of the state playoffs.

Ashley Brown and Whitney Brown hit back-to-back home runs in Game 2 for the Lady Indians, and Madison Owenby had a three-run home run in Game 1 to lead the Lady Indians to victory.

Morgan Wood was 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs for Lumpkin County, and Allyson Gentry had a triple and two RBIs.

Ashley Brown was the winning pitcher in both games. Lumpkin County travels to Marist for the second round series starting next Wednesday in Atlanta.
