White County High football coach Gregg Segraves was placed on leave by the school system on Sept. 22, Laurie Burkett, director of personnel for White County schools, confirmed Monday in a phone call with The Times. She declined to go into specifics as to why Segraves was placed on leave, and whether it is paid or unpaid.

Segraves declined comment on the issue. In the interim, assistant coach Tommy Flowers has been designated as head coach for the Warriors (3-1), who play host to Lumpkin County High on Friday in Cleveland.
