Region 7-4A basketball tournament: Nicholson's overtime effort key for Chestatee boys in 74-72 win against White County
War Eagles boys earn spot in region semifinals, first playoff berth since 2008

Chestatee's Brenton Nicholson scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in extra time in a 74-72 double-overtime win against White County to open the Region 7-4A tournament Monday in Roswell. With the win, the War Eagles advance to face Denmark in the region semifinals Thursday, along with earning its first playoff berth since 2008. 

Nicholson hit a 3-pointer in each extra frame and went 8 for 8 on overtime free throws.

Jonah Bull scored 18 points for Chestatee, while Ethan Popham finished with 14. 

Nicholson finished the game at Blessed Trinity with four 3-pointers and converted on all 10 free throws. 

Bull went 8 of 9 on free throws. 

Kyle Bowmar was also in double figures, scoring 11 for Chestatee.

Up next, Chestatee takes on Denmark at 8:30 p.m. Thursday as the remainder of the boys bracket shifts to Flowery Branch High.
